The co-founders are two Mid-Haight neighbors with a passion for reducing our impact on the environment and building community.


 

We are volunteer driven, with over 200 volunteers signed up (thank you!) who have an interest in repairing or helping with logistics or baking cakes. 

We have joined the Repair Café Foundation based in the Netherlands, a non-profit organization that supports local groups around the world in setting up their own repair cafes.  When we started there were no regular repair cafes in San Francisco but now we are happy to have inspired the set up of the Mission Repair Cafe. There are also a range of other repair cafes, ‘fix-it clinics’ and ‘repair fairs’ around the Bay. 

Courtney is an artist, creative designer, event producer and founder of People!Art!Music! (PAM!)—which she founded to celebrate and uplift local art, community, and connection through public events and design—and with which the Repair Cafe concept aligns perfectly. 

Claire has been working on sustainability issues in the built environment for over 20 years, and was inspired to set up the Repair Café because of her friend Charlotte’s successful Chiswick Repair Café in London.
